What a gate safety check is
An engineer inspects the gate, the posts and the drive, then tests the safety devices that stop it hurting someone. The main test measures the force the gate puts on a person it meets. BS EN 12453 sets the limits and the DHF code of practice explains how to test on site. The engineer records the readings, fixes or reports anything outside the limits, and tells you when the next check is due.
